Recipes are like antiques. They are meant to be handed down from one generation to another. Each one holding a special memory or nostalgic memory. Here is why we love this one!

Making my own salad dressings has become one of my favorite things to do. You can make them as simple or as complex as you like. Experimenting with seasoning and flavors, you only need a fat and an acid. What you choose to do with the rest is endless! That is what cooking is about right? Finding new flavors. And fresh, whole ingredient cooking you can aways taste the difference!

Variations and Substitutions

Just a few ideas to make this your own!

  • Greek Yogurt – Sour cream or regular plain yogurt can be substituted.
  • Dairy Free – plant based yogurt and mayo can help with this.
  • Fresh Dill – swap the tablespoons of fresh for teaspoons of dried for an easy substitution.
  • Make it Spicy – add some dijon mustard, red pepper flakes or even a splash of your favorite vinegar to add a little kick.

Equipment

🔧 I love to share recipes that are no special equipment required but here are a few things that would definitely make this recipe easier!

How to Serve and Store

This dressing is good for more than just salads! Try it:

  • Serve it as a dip for your raw veggie tray. Perfect for that!
  • Use it on wraps or sandwiches in place of traditional condiments
  • Serve it with roasted vegetables, french fries or grilled vegetables.
  • On top of salmon, PAN FRIED COD or baked chicken.
  • Use in a cold pasta salad for a zip of flavor.

This stays really well covered in the refrigerator for up to 10 days! We don’t recommend freezing dressing of any kind.

Want it a bit thinner? Supplement the 1 1/2 cups of yogurt with about 1/4 cup of buttermilk. This will create a thinner dressing. So instead, you will use 1 &1/4 cups yogurt and 1/4 cup buttermilk.
