We love to reinvent leftovers. Not that you will ever have any of this beautiful PIMENTO CHEESE left over, but it is worth it just to make it to fry up these bites of heaven. Taking leftovers and making them into something new is a favorite pastime of ours. Just like these Cornbread Dressing Fritters.

How to make Fried Pimento Cheese

The real secret to frying anything that is soft is freezing. You take something traditional like these, roll them into a ball, freeze them and then they transform into something easy to work with. Then you take them and batter them and fry them up until they are golden brown.

They are great on their own but if you whip up a spicy ranch sauce with Ranch dressing and a few shakes of hot sauce, that will only add to the whole experience. Let’s get to it!

~ Ingredients ~

  • 1 to 2 cups prepared Pimento cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup Panko Bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

~ Method ~

  1. Using an ice cream scoop or large spoon, mold spoon fulls of pimento cheese into 1 inch balls. Place on a cookie sheet. Freeze for one hour.
  2. Prepare 3 to 4 cups canola oil for frying. Heat oil to 350 degrees F. In 3 separate bowls, set up a breading station. In one mix eggs and water. Within the 2nd, mix flour, salt and pepper. In the 3rd mix panko and Parmesan cheese. Remove rolled pimento cheese from the freezer.
  3. Dredge each ball into the flour mixture, then the egg and water mixture and finally the panko mixture. Place back on sheet pan to rest while battering the remainder of pimento cheese.
  4. Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and cool. Serve with a ranch or spicy ranch sauce and Enjoy!

        1. We actually freeze the balls first, then batter them to fry. If you are frying a large batch, you will need to place the battered ones back in the freezer until ready to fry so they will stay together.
