Tips and Tricks
Can I use a different kind of Cheese?
Yes. Any shredded cheese will work. If you wanted it a bit spicier, use Pepper Jack mixed even with a sharp cheddar. Smoked Gouda is also a good choice as well as Swiss for a tangy and smoky taste. Get creative, the sky is the limit.
How long will Olive Bread keep? How to Store.
Once it is cooled, any leftovers you have can be sealed in and air tight container or bag and refrigerated for up to a week. This is also a good make ahead option. the olive mixture can be stored in the fridge for a week before allowing to soften to room temperature to spread and bake on the bread.
What type of olives should I use?
Manzanilla or green olives stuffed with pimentos are great here. Along with your standard sliced black olive. I love using what you have on hand but feel free to get a little gourmet here, just make sure your olives are pitted and easily sliced.
Cheesy Olive Bread will make any occasion a party!
This appetizer will be such a big hit at your next BBQ, you will be asked to make it time and again. Not too heavy, not too light, it is the perfect precursor to any good party meal!
What I love about this recipe is that it can be made ahead of time and frozen on a sheet pan for a couple of hours before transferring to foil or a bag to have for later! Simply thaw it on the pan for a few minutes and cook as normal.
