How to make Easy and Crispy Baked Artichoke Hearts

We use the simple power of the oven to bake up a crisp and healthy appetizer with pantry staple ingredients!

    Crispy Artichoke Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin Olive Oil
    • ½ to 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • 1 can Artichoke hearts, drained, rinsed and dried
    • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese

    Garlic Dipping Sauce Ingredients

    • ¼ cup Mayonnaise
    • ¼ cup sour cream
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoon dijon mustard
    • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • ½ teaspoon cajun seasoning
    • salt and pepper to taste

Step by step photos and instructions for this easy recipe:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Drain artichoke hearts and rinse with cool water. Dry with a paper towel.

In a large bowl, toss artichoke hearts with olive oil, red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese. Making sure to coat each one well.

Drained and rinsed and dried artichoke hearts in a large bowl.
    Add in the olive oil.
Add in the grated parmesan cheese.

Spread on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until they are crispy and golden brown.

Your cooking time will depend largely on your oven, so I would suggest checking them every 10 minutes or so.

Spread the artichokes in a single layer on a sheet pan.

For the Sauce, in a medium size bowl, mix the mayo, sour cream, minced garlic, lemon juice, mustard, worcestershire sauce, cajun seasoning, salt and pepper well.

Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Tips and tricks for the best artichoke hearts

Slice the hearts in half to make artichoke halves to make the recipe go farther.

Add fresh flavors to garnish, cilantro, diced red onion,  sun-dried tomatoes, green onions and many more.

Feel free to use fresh artichokes in place of canned artichoke hearts. Steamed artichokes are the best way to get the same consistency.

These make a great addition to other meals too, not just for appetizers. Serve them over baked chicken breasts or in your favorite artichoke salad for a punch of flavor. Get creative!

To store leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

To reheat, wrap the hearts in aluminum foil  to form foil packets and reheat on a low heat setting in the oven until warmed through and crispy.

You can also make these in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
