Substitutions and variations

Like most of our recipes this one will get your wheels turning on how to make the same thing but with different ingredients and make it your own.

  • Italian seasoning – you can sub ranch seasoning here for a whole different taste.
  • Honey mustard – creamy and tangy dijon mustard is a great substitution that will take this from sweet to tangy.
  • Cheddar cheese – mozzarella or another creamy, meltable white cheese also will change the flavor to new and different.

🗹 RECIPE FAQ’S

Do I have to use avocado oil?

No, olive oil or even vegetable oil will work just fine. We like avocado oil because it is not a seed oil and has a high smoke point and doesn’t add any flavor to the recipes we make.

Can I just top and serve?

You can but the chicken may need more than 16 to 18 minutes to cook. We like dressing the top of the chicken for the last of the bake to melt the cheese where you get that nice cheese skirt over the chicken.

How can I make this low carb?

That is easy. Use another mustard option that is not sweet and use turkey bacon on top.
