Y’all know I love to take really good things and repurpose them. This Maple Candied Bacon is a lot like our BACON CHUTNEY in the sense that we have taken a food that is traditionally made one way and totally transformed it. If you make this recipe, be sure you save some of the pan drippings and use this bacon to add to our SOUTHERN TOMATO GRAVY, for a new twist on an old favorite! And if you need a fool proof way to just cook plain bacon, check out this recipe for AIR FRYER BACON.

Tips and Tricks

Can I do this on a griddle?

You can, it just needs to have somehow for the grease to move away from the bacon. It sitting in its own grease will not result in the crispiness you desire.

What if I don’t have a baking sheet with a rack?

Easy, you can use your broiler pan that more than likely came with your oven. No matter what you use, just make sure there is a way for the grease to move away from the bacon while it is cooking.

How long will it keep?

The short answer is, you don’t have to worry about leftovers. If you have a bacon lover in your house, it may not last very long. Truthfully, after cooling, you can wrap it up tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate it. It should last 4-5 days in the refrigerator.
