What You’ll Need

  • Pecans give the cobbler an added crunch for texture. The best can be found at our friends over at PRIESTER’S PECANS.
  • Brown sugar is used in both the base and the topping for a classically sweet flavor.
  • Baking staples like self-rising flour, salt, and milk are needed for the cobbler base to come together.
  • Vanilla gives the dessert a comforting aroma and it will come out more the higher quality vanilla you use. Butter adds richness to the cobbler and helps it melt in your mouth.

Why Brooke loves this recipe!

Recipes are like antiques. They are meant to be handed down from one generation to another. Each one holding a special memory or nostalgic memory. Here is why we love this one!

Logo for "The Buttered Home" featuring a butter churn in the center enclosed by a circular design. The text "EST 2018" is on either side of the churn. Below the circle, the text reads "THE BUTTERED HOME" with the tagline "home cooking made easy" underneath.

You can make a cobbler out of most any fruit but this pecan cobbler is something different. Filled with texture, its dumpling center is not as moist as that of a fruit cobbler. Making it more like a really tender coffee cake. You really shouldn’t take my word for how good it is, you should make it today and find out on your own!

Notes

Notes: Make sure not to use margarine in place of butter as it will alter the melt-in-your-mouth taste.
When baking, you want to remove the cobbler when the middle is nearly set. It will firm up a bit as it cools, and this keeps it from being overdone.

🍴 PRO TIP!

Butter is where it is at for this one! Don’t skimp on our favorite ingredient and use fresh, good butter. No substitutes will quite do as well to give you the consistency for cobbler you are looking for.
