Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Author Brooke Burks

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Peanuts raw or lightly roasted and unsalted
  • 1/3 cup Water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Smoked Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

  • Start by placing a skillet over medium heat. Add the raw peanuts, water and sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
2 cups Peanuts, 1/3 cup Water, 1 cup sugar
  • Allow the mixture to come to simmer, stirring constantly. Once the water evaporates, the peanuts will get sandy. Keep stirring.
  • The sugars will melt and caramelize. Keep stirring, moving the pan off and on the heat if it starts to burn until it reaches a deep amber color. This should take about 7-10 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the smoked salt, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and ground cinnamon.
1/2 teaspoon Smoked Salt, 1/2 teaspoon Chili Powder, 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper, 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • Spread the peanuts on a parchment paper-lined tray. Let them cool completely. Once cooled, break them into individual pieces.
