Momma B's Meatloaf

Momma B's Meatloaf is a fancy way to make this suppertime staple main course. We make a delicious honey based sauce in place of ketchup. We also make this with real bread in the meatloaf mixture which adds great texture and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef

  • ¼ onion chopped fine

  • 1 cup of day old bread cubed 

  • 1 tablespoon Ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire

  • 1 egg

  • ~For the Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon horseradish

  • 1 tablespoon worchestershire

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  • Mix first 7 ingredients together and form a loaf. Put in a foil lined pan and cook at 375 degrees and cook for 20-30 minutes.
  • Mix mustard, second tablespoon of ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire, brown sugar, tomato paste and honey in a small bowl.
  • After the meatloaf has cooked about 20-30 minutes, pour the prepared sauce over the meatloaf and return to the oven for 15-20 more minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to stand for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
