Instant Pot Apple Butter

Ingredients

  • 8 cups apples peeled, cored and chopped into bite size pieces
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Peel. core and chop apples to bite size pieces. Place in the liner of the instant pot. Add in sugar, brown sugar, spices, apple cider and vanilla.
    8 cups apples, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/2 cup apple cider, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Place lid on and set to seal. Pressure cook for 5 minutes. Allow pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes. Release remaining pressure and check two make sure apples are tender. Blend or use immersion blender til smooth.
  • Place warm apple butter in sterilized jars and fix lids finger tight. Allow to cool on the counter until seal forms. Keep in the refrigerator or freezer as is. Or process in a water bath canner for shelf stability.

*PRO TIP- to make on the stove top, follow all instructions as is. Instead of cooking in the instant pot, stew the apples on the stove top for 20 to 30 minutes or until they are tender enough to blend.
