How to Make Tomato Gravy The Southern Way

Southern Tomato Gravy is a classic Southern dish. People love to eat it but often will not attempt to make it. We share our recipe for a perfect and easy tomato gravy. Add that bacon on top and you will be hooked!

Butter –Bacon grease – Chopped onion – AP flour – Salt & pepper – Can diced tomatoes – Tomato juice – Bacon, optional

INGREDIENTS

Heat bacon grease a butter in a large Skillet over medium heat. Add onions cook until soft. 1-2 minutes.

STEP 1

Add flour, salt & pepper mix until soft ball or paste forms. Cook for I minute stirring.

STEP 2

Gradually add tomatoes & tomato juice.

STEP 3

Boil at medium heat a whisk to combine.

STEP 4

Lower heat to low & cook about 10 minutes or until thickens.

STEP 5

Serve over biscuits and sprinkle with cooked bacon.
