Step by Step Pecan Pie Bars
No special equipment is needed but I do suggest a durable PYREX CASSEROLE DISH. There is a helpful link to several items we used to make this recipe easier at the bottom of this post.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 casserole dish lightly with cooking spray. In a large bowl, sift your flour and powdered sugar. Add 3/4 cup cold cubed butter and cut in using a pastry cutter or your hands. Cut in butter until dough looks coarse.
Gently pat mixture into the 9 x 13 pan on the bottom and up the sides to create the crust. Bake for 15-20 minutes until crust is slightly brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
In a boiler, combine 2/3 cup butter, honey, brown sugar and whipping cream. Melt and mix over medium heat just until combined.
Stir in pecans and mix well. Pour into prepared crust and bake 25 to 30 minutes until browned and bubbly. Allow to cool completely prior to cutting into squares.

Frequently Asked Questions
How to Store
These can be kept in an airtight container for up to one week.
How to buy pecans.
I always suggest buying pecans from a reputable seller. One like our local, family owned PRIESTER’S PECANS. I personally vouch that every pecan or pecan piece you get from them is clean and high quality.
Do they need to be refrigerated?
There is no need to refrigerate these pecan pie squares. We didn’t use any eggs in the crust or the filling so they can be kept in a cool and dry kitchen in an airtight container.
Can I half or double the recipe?
You can. Our recipe card will allow you to change the number of servings when you print it and the recipe will be readily modified for you.
Can you freeze Pecan Pie Squares?
Yes. Once cooled, cover in freezer safe packaging and freeze for up to 3 months.
What are some things I can add to these?
Chocolate. Add all the chocolate baking chips you want! You can experiment with other nuts as well or even dried fruit. I would shy away from using fresh or canned fruit as they will add water and the squares will not set up.
