Tips and Tricks

Can I substitute Margarine or Coconut oil for butter?

I really do suggest that you stick to the butter here. Butter is a healthy fat and possesses the necessary binding agent you need for the best cookie texture.

My cookies didn’t rise very good, why?

Make sure your flours and baking powders and sodas are always fresh. If they are old, they could prohibit your baked goods from rising. This is a good rule of thumb for all baking ingredients, not just for cookies.

Can I add other flavors or textures to this cookie?

Yes, pecans or other nuts would add a great texture to this cookie. You can also experiment with almond extract or other flavors that you like. Like most cookie recipes, this would be great with raisins or chocolate chips as well!

How long will they keep?

The cookies will keep at room temperature in an airtight container for about a week. Or Freeze them for up to 2 months.

Better for you and still pretty tasty!

Made this recipe to avoid using white sugar. Trying to take white sugar out of our all meals. This cookie recipe in our opinion was just so so. Tasted like a banana cookie not an oatmeal cookie at all.

    1. I would maybe try substituting with pumpkin or sweet potato puree if you can have those or even applesauce, you would need about a cup. Add a little of them at a time to make sure the texture is correct and not too wet.
