Traditional Recipes Reimagined

Taking a tried and true recipe and adding your own special touch is something that we are passionate about teaching here at The Buttered Home. Dishes like our PEACH AND PECAN CUSTARD PIE and ITALIAN TORTELLINI SALAD are prime examples of how you can take a regular recipe and add just a few extras to make it something new and different.

Make Cooking a Tradition

The Buttered Home is so much more than just me. My girls have been in the kitchen with me since they were little and as a gift to me this year, my baby Raegan wanted to do her favorite casserole with me and us do a video. I sure enjoyed being in the kitchen with her and this recipe and the video mean more to me than she will ever know. I hope you too, will enjoy this pretty baby’s recipe!

Tips for Easy Green Bean Casserole

Prep Ahead

Green Bean Casserole can be mixed up ahead of time, covered without topping and refrigerated for a day or two before baking. Save yourself time in the kitchen by mixing ahead and baking the day you need it.

My casserole is soggy

Normally this happens after cooking then refrigerating when attempting to reheat. Reheat at low temperature and when the casserole is warmed through, switch oven to medium broil and re-brown the topping. Keep an eye on it to keep it from getting too done.

Can I freeze Green Bean Casserole?

I probably wouldn’t. You can, without the topping but sometimes, watery veggies like green beans do not freeze well and tend to come out mushy. If you do opt to try, make sure you cover tightly with plastic wrap AND foil to protect the casserole as much as possible.
